Central Station Operator
Description - Responsible for monitoring alarm equipment with the use of a computer terminal.
Position involves responding to each alarm, dispatching assistance and service, logging all alarm activity, and
telephone communication. Works under direct supervision on most shifts.
Requirements
- High School graduate. Training on a computer terminal helpful.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment where accuracy is
stressed.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and communicate effectively.
- Analytical skills needed to determine correct course of action when normal procedures fail.
- High level of mental and visual effort exerted when responding to alarms.
Must remain alert to computer screen activity during entire eight (8) hour shift.
- Effective interpersonal skills are crucial in communication with customers and co-workers.
Protective System Installer
Protective System Installer
Description - Responsible for installation of electrical/electronic protective signaling systems used to notify Central Alarm
Station of fire, burglary or other irregularities on the subscriber's premises. Installs wiring conduit and signaling
equipment following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans. Works under direct supervision.
Requirements
- High School graduate with a minimum of a two (2) year degree and/or
certificate in electronics.
- Basic analytical skills required to determine system layouts for maximum coverage.
- Ability to use hand tools and some carpentry skills mandatory.
- Knowledge of department policies and installation procedures required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to verbally communicate with customer and co-workers.
- Required to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, reach, climb ladder, and work at heights.
- Must have valid MI drivers license and clean driving record to be
insurable under the fleet policy.
- Must obtain and maintain NICET Certification (minimum – Level II) and State of Michigan FAST License.
Service Technician
Service Technician
Description - Responsible for servicing customer alarm systems in a specific territory. Must work independently,
under broad supervision, servicing systems and communicating course of action to customer and Central Station.
Requirements
-
High School graduate with a minimum of a two (2) year degree and/or
certificate in electronics.
- Must work toward and maintain NICET Certification and State FAST License.
- Analytical abilities are required to troubleshoot and repair complex electronic problems on customer systems. Requires
thorough knowledge of electronics.
- Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic tools.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and common sense needed to deal effectively with customers.
- Must have valid MI drivers license and clean driving record to be
insurable under the fleet policy.
